Body Be Gone

Body Be Gone

We are a composite of mind, body and spirit — and nowadays, our digital footprint. But our body is the most tangible dimension of our being, and therefore, of our death.

Deciding what to do with our body, referred to as “body disposition” in funeral industry parlance, often is the most sensitive component of a Goodbye plan. It also offers a dizzying and growing number of choices.

The decision is influenced by our values, religious and/or spiritual beliefs, consideration of our loved ones, and budget.

It also depends on whether we want our body/physical remains to be donated for transplants or research, or ultimately be buried (above or below ground, or at sea), entombed, embedded, displayed, dispersed, projected, planted or even repurposed into an eternal keepsake and/or memorial.

Sometimes, if making this decision is too emotionally difficult, it may be easier to first determine where you ultimately want your body to be or what you want it to become, and then work backwards to the methods suitable for your preference.

My Great Goodbye can enable you to increase your death literacy so you can make informed decisions, and be empowered to make a plan that resonates with and reflects YOU.
