Lasting Memories

Lasting Memories

Physically, philosophically and according to sympathy cards, when we depart we no longer are visually present, but we will live on in the hearts and minds of those we leave behind via their memories of us.

Today, there are an abundance of high touch and high tech ways not only to augment those memories, but to be more ‘present’ in our loved ones’ lives after we pass.

The options are either enabled by death reimagined, creativity, technological advances, a burgeoning death care industry, financial ability, or some combination thereof. Some are rooted in biblical practice, such as creating an ethical will to impart your values and life lessons to future generations. Others are simple gestures, like the man who arranged for someone to buy his son a beer when he turned 21, or the woman who created a video for her daughter’s future wedding day.

Elaborate examples include creating a hologram greeting for a loved one for their milestone birthday, or using digital afterlife apps to create AI-based chatbots and avatars for “virtual immortality.”

Considerations should include the feelings of the receiver, as unlike after-death contact’s spiritual experiences, some of what’s possible may be uncomfortable for the living.

Let My Great Goodbye help you consider your options and find the right balance.
